Risk Evaluation and Education for Alzheimer’s Disease

REVEAL, the Risk Evaluation and Education for Alzheimer’s Disease Study is a multi-center funded research project.

The goal of REVEAL is to provide healthy adults with genetic susceptibility testing and information about their chances to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

Please Note: If you know someone that is related to a person suffering from Alzheimer’s disease please make them aware of this new and important study.

Eligible participants will be asked to conduct a phone interview during which questions about attitudes toward AD will be asked. Participants will be given the opportunity to meet with a genetic counselor to discuss any family history of AD and learn about the gene associated with AD. Participants will then have the opportunity to have their blood drawn for gene testing and receive an AD risk assessment.

Information from the REVEAL Study will be used to determine if it is beneficial to educate people about their potential genetic risk for AD.

Where is the study taking place?

Locally. REVEAL Study appointments are held at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Additional study sites include: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (Cleveland, OH); Howard University (Washington, DC); and Boston University School of Medicine (Boston, MA).
